NEW YORK “SOUL OF THE STREETS”

Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx

New York Photography – Capture the Soul of New York’s Diverse Ethnic Neighborhoods.

As much as we enjoy traveling the globe, no location offers as much cultural diversity, variety, and energy as New York City. It’s truly the capital of the world. For this reason, native documentary photographer Michael Chinnici added New York to his “Soul of the Streets” Photo Workshop Series. Michael, a PWA photographer leader and the author of the highly acclaimed photo storytelling book Vanishing Cuba, will offer several NYC “Soul of the Streets” Photo Workshops, each with its own Edition. Each Edition will focus on different neighborhoods, photographic styles, and different themes, and some may even incorporate a brief stint in the studio. No two workshops will be alike, but all will open your eyes (and your lenses) to the wonderful street, people, and architectural photography that awaits you.

On each of his Editions, Michael will be selecting some of his favorite locations and experiences. We’ll focus on street scenes, people, architecture, cultural aspects, and even festivals: natural light, reflections, silhouettes, unique opportunities, and more. We’ll travel by foot, subway, bus, taxi and ferry.

We’ll use both our cameras and camera phones to explore and compare the differences. We’ll use tripods for long exposure, and Michael will teach you how to get comfortable photographing everyday people on the street, including environmental portraits. We’ll also enjoy capturing creative street photography along the way.

Michael says, “It’s my hope that you will feel the soul of my city, the soul of each of the neighborhoods. Through this, come away with images that represent the diversity and energy of this beautiful and one-of-a-kind city. Come join me.”
