Paris: The Romance of Light and Stone
Join us on our 6-day Paris “Soul of the Streets” Photo Tour and Cultural Adventure for an elegant, romantic journey through the world’s most beautiful city — its grand icons and its intimate quarters, its architecture and its light, its café terraces and its quiet morning streets.
Every city in our Soul of the Streets series has its own character, and Paris’s is elegance. Where some cities reveal themselves in grit and motion, Paris seduces — grand perspectives and wrought-iron balconies, the glow of a zinc rooftop at first light, the hush of a café in the blue hour. This is a tour of mood and romance as much as of place, made for photographers who love architecture, atmosphere, and the soft drama of Parisian light.
We’ll give the icons the time they deserve, because nowhere else offers them: the Eiffel Tower sparkling over the Seine at blue hour, the glass pyramid of the Louvre aglow after dark, the grand geometry of Versailles in the hush of early morning, the Arc de Triomphe and its radiating avenues, the bridges and *bouquinistes* along the river. These are cityscapes you can frame only in Paris — and we’ll be there at the precise hour each one is at its most beautiful.
Between the landmarks lives the everyday city, and that’s the other half of the story: the medieval lanes of the Marais, the village heights of Montmartre at sunrise, the canals and multicultural villages of the east, the flower stalls, morning markets, and corner cafés where Parisian life quietly unfolds. We’ll move through the city quarter by quarter to capture the soul of the streets — the architecture, the mood, the romance, and the small human moments that make a frame sing. Architecture, cityscape, street, portrait, café culture, and intentional camera movement: every genre, every light. Come capture Paris with us.

ITINERARY
PARIS “SOUL OF THE STREETS” – 6 DAYS
Day 1 | The Medieval Heart - Le Marais · Île de la Cité · Île Saint-Louis · Louvre at blue hour
Genres: street, architecture, portrait, detail
After checking into our hotel, we’ll gather at 11 AM to begin with an introduction to PWA’s “10 Guiding Principles of Photography” and our “THE ART OF SEEING” approach, followed by lunch and an informal discussion about what each guest hopes to create—the subjects, styles, and techniques that inspire you.
After lunch, we’ll set out on foot into Le Marais, the oldest and most walkable corner of Paris—the narrow medieval streets of the 3rd and 4th, the Marché des Enfants Rouges (the city’s oldest covered market, dating to 1615), and the graceful arcades and symmetry of the Place des Vosges. We’ll cross to the Île de la Cité to photograph the beautifully restored Notre-Dame, then linger along the quiet quays of the Île Saint-Louis as the afternoon light softens.
In the evening, we’ll gather early for our “Welcome Dinner” at one of our favorite Paris restaurants, then step out to the Louvre to photograph the glass pyramid at blue hour, glowing against the courtyard’s stone. (D)
Day 2 | Palaces and Perspective - Versailles · Palais-Royal · Covered Passages · Montorgueil
Genres: architecture, detail, grand landscape
This morning we’ll set out early by train for the Palace of Versailles, arriving for the opening to photograph the Hall of Mirrors and the opulent State Apartments before the crowds—the soft morning light through the great west-facing windows is ideal for the gilded interiors. We’ll then wander the vast formal gardens and the sweeping Grand Perspective down to the canal, with time at the Hameau de la Reine, Marie Antoinette’s storybook hamlet.
Back in Paris by early afternoon, we’ll photograph the elegant geometry of the Palais-Royal and its striped Buren columns, then thread through the covered passages—Galerie Vivienne, Passage des Panoramas, and Passage Jouffroy—whose glass roofs, mosaic floors, and soft, diffused light are a photographer’s delight. We’ll finish among the lively stalls of the market street rue Montorgueil. The evening is yours to enjoy at your leisure. (B)
Day 3 | Iron and Stone - Eiffel Tower · Trocadéro · Bir-Hakeim · Pont Alexandre III · Arc de Triomphe
Genres: cityscape, architecture, ICM, blue hour
After breakfast, we’ll devote the day to Paris’s grandest icons. We’ll begin around the Champ de Mars and the celebrated framings of the Eiffel Tower—the staircase on the Avenue de Camoëns and the long view down the rue de l’Université. At the Pont de Bir-Hakeim, with its Art Nouveau ironwork and the Métro rushing across the upper deck, we’ll practice intentional camera movement (ICM) and creative motion. From there we’ll follow the Seine to the ornate, gilded Pont Alexandre III, then rise to the top of the Arc de Triomphe for a sweeping cityscape of the twelve radiating avenues in the golden light of late afternoon.
After an early dinner, we’ll head back out for the evening’s highlight—the Eiffel Tower at blue hour—photographing from Trocadéro or Bir-Hakeim as the tower sparkles on the hour against a deep blue sky. (B)
Day 4 | The Butte - Montmartre · Sacré-Cœur · Pigalle / SoPi
Day 5 | The Eastern Villages - Canal Saint-Martin · Belleville · Ménilmontant · Père
Genres: street, portrait, street art, atmosphere
We’ll begin with a photography discussion and a review of the work created so far, then set out for the living, working quarters of eastern Paris. Along the Canal Saint-Martin we’ll photograph the iron footbridges, the lock gates, and the relaxed Sunday café life of the 10th, its quays given over to strollers and cyclists. Climbing into the multicultural villages of Belleville and Ménilmontant, we’ll focus on street photography and layered street art, and take in the sweeping view over the city from the Parc de Belleville.
In the late afternoon, we’ll walk the atmospheric, tree-lined avenues of Père Lachaise, the city’s great garden cemetery, as the low light rakes across the tombs. In the evening, we’ll gather for our “Farewell Dinner” at one of our favorite restaurants in Paris. (B) (D)
Day 6 | A Last Light - the Seine at first light · breakfast · photo critique
Genres: a quiet farewell
For those who wish, we’ll slip out at first light for one last shoot along the Seine—the bridges, the bouquinistes, and the Square du Vert-Galant at the tip of the Île de la Cité as the city stirs. Over breakfast, we’ll hold our final group discussion and critique, review the week’s finest photographs, exchange contact information, and say our farewells before your transfer arrives. Our adventure closes at 11 AM. (B)
(B) Breakfast, (L) Lunch, (D) Dinner, (E) Excursion
May all who come as guests... leave as friends®
