Cliffs, Creeks, and Grand canyons in Arid Arizona.
Our 8-day Arizona Photo Tour and Landscape Adventure is set to enthrall you with sweeping desert dreamscapes drenched by the sun. Towering cliffs and cacti, canyons that seem to delve as deep as the Earth’s core, ancient petroglyphs, and contemporary man-made marvels all await your lens.

We begin with Sedona, a magical oasis surrounded by red-rock monoliths with curious names like Coffeepot, Cathedral, and Thunder Mountain. As the blazing sun sinks below the horizon, the formations are bathed in equally fiery hues of deep rose and copper. At the north end of the town is the stunning Oak Creek Canyon, a breathtaking chasm that is both wild and wonderful. Nestled in the lush Verde Valley, this was home to the Native American Yavapai and Apache tribes.

Two hours north of Sedona, we will traverse Navajo land to the Antelope Canyon, one of the most photographed sites in the American Southwest. Winding through the chambers of this subterranean eroded world, we will snap swirls of dark mauve and pink sandstone sculpted by the passage of time and the elements. Taking the scenic route, we will discover some of the gems of the Colorado River – the Lake Powell man-made reservoir and the famous Horseshoe Bend, a perfect blue U-shaped meander amid the arid desert.

The main event of our photo trip will be exploring the south rim of the Grand Canyon, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, and for good reason. It is a photographer’s playground of epic proportions, a staggering miracle of natural design that seems to extend infinitely through time and space. From the Grandview and Yaki Point vantages, the sheer scale of the Grand Canyon vistas will prove a true challenge to photograph.

Our trip will conclude in Las Vegas, capturing the raw and rich beauty of sites such as the Red Rock Canyon and the Valley of Fire. They get their names from their incandescent color palettes, a desert rainbow of crimsons, oranges, pinks, and indigos that are cast upon these lands with the rise and fall of the sun. Finally, we will visit Hoover Dam, a concrete feat of engineering, its industrial beauty harmonizing with the effortless design of the natural world.

This 8-day photography tour is more than just a quest to capture exceptional images; it’s an invitation to elevate your craft and see the world through a new lens. Our expert photographer guides will not only lead you to the most photogenic locations under the best light but also help you master the art of visual storytelling. Along the way, you’ll refine your camera techniques and discover how to navigate the challenges of photographing in a foreign land. You’ll also learn to anticipate a scene before capturing the decisive moment, elevating ordinary photos into extraordinary works of art.

Join us for spirited discussions, enriching camaraderie, and moments of unforgettable inspiration. Arizona, a dramatically arid and harsh land that bursts with color and life, is a contrast waiting to be captured by your camera. Your visual odyssey starts here!

ITINERARY

ARIZONA 8 DAYS

Day 1 | Scottsdale

Welcome to Arizona! After our meet and greet in the late afternoon, we will discuss what our guests are trying to achieve in their photography, subject matters, styles and techniques, followed by our Welcome Dinner at one of our favorite southwest restaurants. (D)

Day 2 | Sedona - Red Rock Monoliths

After early check out we will depart for Sedona and our adventure. On our drive, we will discuss the elements that we will try to achieve in our photography, subject matters, styles, and techniques. Sedona is a desert town located a few hours north of Phoenix. It’s surrounded by stunning red-rock buttes, steep canyon walls, and pine forests. It’s known for its mild climate, the vibrant arts community and Red Rock State Park, which offers bird-watching, hiking, and amazing photographic opportunities.

We are on our way to photograph the red-rock monoliths named Coffee Pot Rock, Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock, and Thunder Mountain. Who gave them names is unknown, but the name of each major formation resembles its shape. For example, the character Snoopy from the popular Peanuts comic strip lies on top of his doghouse. Another is Lucy, also from the Peanuts comic strip. Then there are Coffee Pot Rock, Bell Rock, Cathedral Rock, Chimney Rock, Courthouse Butte, The Mittens, The Cow Pies, and the Rabbit Ears. From the front door of Chapel of the Holy Cross, take a peek at Eagle Head Rock as well as the Twin Nuns and Mother and Child Rock buttes. The Three Golden Chiefs and Capitol Butte can be seen from Coffee Pot. Next we’ll check-in to our award-winning resort hotel, tucked along the banks of Oak Creek Canyon. Be prepared to be wowed. (B)

Day 3 | Sedona - Page - Horseshoe Bend - Lake Powell

On day three, we check out early and head to northern Arizona and the town of Page, home to Antelope Canyon, Lake Powell, Horseshoe Bend, and the Colorado River. The 12-mile drive from Sedona to Flagstaff on State Route 89A is one of America’s most scenic drives, so we will be sure to enjoy the vistas and take some photos along the way. Upon our arrival in Page, we head first to Horseshoe Bend where the Colorado River runs through this huge 180-degree canyon. Horseshoe Bend is one of the most photographed locations in Page.

Arriving in the late morning or early afternoon is the perfect time to photograph Horseshoe Bend because the shadows are gone from the Colorado River. Later, we check in to our hotel and have lunch. In mid-afternoon, we take a Lake Powell Boat Tour (or Antelope Slot Canyon Boat Tour – depending on our schedule), where you will be treated to stunning and spectacular photo opportunities of the changing water lines as our boat glides through the slots. The sheer sandstone cliffs were formed by the Lower Jurassic Glen Canyon Group (Wingate, Kayenta, and Navajo Formations) and the Middle Jurassic Entrada and Romana Sandstones. Then ending the day with a gorgeous sunset at Wahweap Overlook. (B)

Day 4 | Antelope Canyons - Page

After breakfast, we depart early for one of the Antelope X Canyon Slot Canyons (The photography tour) . Next we will visit either Lower or Upper Antelope Canyons to photograph the canyon. (preferably the Upper canyon at the 2:30 tour) . The experience inside these canyons is quite impressive, with the endless shafts of light beaming through from above. We spend the afternoon reviewing images and discussing post-processing. In the late afternoon, we set out to explore other great photo opportunities in the area ending with a sunset shoot. (B)

Day 5 | Grand Canyon - South Rim

After breakfast, we depart early and head south to Grand Canyon National Park for some amazing morning photography. We will spend the morning and afternoon exploring the South Rim and the different viewpoints along the south rim of the canyon. After lunch we will take a drive to the east and photograph some more of the canyon making our way to Grandview Point for a Grand Canyon sunset. (B)

Day 6 | Grand Canyon - Grapevine Canyon - Red Rock Canyon

On day six, before check out we head out to Yaki point for one of the best spots for sunrise on the South Rim. After check out we head west towards Las Vegas stopping at Grapevine Canyon located on Spirit Mountain near Laughlin, Nevada to photograph the 900+ year old petroglyphs. The canyon has approximately 700 petroglyphs created by the Mojave Native Americans who called this their homeland for thousands of years. By mid afternoon we continue on our way to Las Vegas where we will check in to our hotel. After check in we will settle in for a short while and then on to Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area for a spectacular sunset. You will clearly see how the Red Rocks got their name as the setting sun highlights the natural red stone. (B)

Day 7 | Lake Mead - Hoover Dam - Valley of Fire State Park

We will depart the hotel early to catch sunrise at Lake Meade and then head to The Hoover Dam. The Hoover Dam, the highest concrete dam in the Western Hemisphere, created the nation’s largest reservoir, Lake Mead. After the dam we will drive to the Valley of Fire State Park. The Valley of Fire derives its name from the red and pink sandstone formations, the Aztec Sandstone, which formed from shifting sand dunes 150 million years ago. We will spend the remainder of the day exploring the park and ending with a sunset at Rainbow Vista for a panoramic view of the Valley of Fire. In the evening we enjoy our Farewell Dinner, filled with great fun and laughter as we discuss all the highlights of the trip. (B, D)

Day 8 | Sunrise Red Rock Canyon - Departure day

Before breakfast we will enjoy one last sunrise at Red Rock Canyon. Afterwards, while enjoying breakfast we conduct our final group discussion and review. After a late breakfast, check-out and then we will drop you at McCarran International Airport. Here we will bid you farewell. (B)

(B) Breakfast, (L) Lunch, (D) Dinner, (E) Excursion

May all who come as guests... leave as friends®
