DUBAI
Bastakiya, Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab, Falconry, Jumeirah Mosque
Imagine a desert enclave with deep-rooted traditions and an ambitious futuristic vision.
Our 4-day Dubai Photo Tour and Adventure focuses on the most impressive aspects of life in this booming center of international trade and innovation. We’ll explore Dubai Marina, Burj Khalifa (the world’s tallest building), the Bastakiya Historical District, Burj Al Arab (Dubai’s iconic sail-shaped 7-star hotel), Jumeirah Mosque, Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary (with a thousand flamingos), and BoxPark (built completely out of colorful shipping containers). We’ll also adventure outside the city on a desert excursion to photograph the art of Falconry with falcons, a hawk, and owls.
It’s hard not to admire Dubai for its space-age architecture and ability to dream up such an advanced city in such a short amount of time. It’s not hard to imagine a future with flying taxis, a lightning-fast Hyperloop train, and an army of robocops. The first Middle Eastern city to make the UNESCO list of creative cities of design, Dubai is a bustling microcosm peacefully shared by cultures from all corners of the world. The assortment of photographic opportunities will surprise you and bring a smile to your face.
This adventure is designed not only to guide you to the most photogenic locations carefully planned for the best light, but to aid you in mentally visualizing a scene before capturing the decisive moment. Our aim is to raise your awareness and spark your creativity so that you not only go home with images to be proud of, but use your new found skills to improve and expand your photographic technique in general. Apart from the technical aspect of learning your camera settings and capabilities, you will learn how to turn an ordinary image into an extraordinary image by using your own creativity.
In addition, you will become knowledgeable on how to survey the landscape, utilize and approach your environment, photograph people indigenous to the region and the cultural considerations and challenges of photographing in a foreign country. Our time together will include individual and group discussions, inspiring ideas and great fun. Dubai, with its ancient heritage and modern space age architecture, is the perfect destination to express your creativity.

ITINERARY
DUBAI 4 DAY PHOTO TOUR
Day 1 | Bastakiya Historical District - Burj Khalifa
We meet in the late morning in the lobby of our hotel in Dubai. After a meet and greet, and discussions about our photography interests, we will visit the Bastakiya Historical District where we will enjoy a late lunch. This historic district is located near Dubai Creek. Its narrow streets and wind towers provide old-world charm in an otherwise space-age, super modern city. Visiting the Al Fahidi historical neighborhood is a great way to get acquainted with Dubai’s old way of life, as well as an introduction to this impressive city.
Next, we will visit Burj Khalifa, the world’s tallest building which soars over the city at an impressive 2,716 feet (828 meters) and boasts 200 stories. We will photograph Burj Khalifa as we walk through the gardens and fountains below. At sunset we will move to the top floor of a neighboring building to capture a breathtaking panoramic cityscape. We end the evening with a wonderful Welcome Dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in Dubai. (D)
Day 2 | Burj Al Arab - Dubai Marina - Jumeirah Mosque - BoxPark
We begin our day with a sunrise shoot of Burj Al Arab, the world’s most luxurious 7-star hotel. This iconic hotel sits on an artificial island 920 feet (280 meters) from Jumeirah beach and is connected to the mainland by a private curving bridge. The shape of this unique structure is designed to mimic the sail of a ship, making it one of the most photographed buildings in Dubai. After breakfast, we will take a stroll through Dubai Marina which is encircled by a magnificent collection of modern skyscrapers. Bring your wide and ultra-wide lens.
In the late afternoon, we’ll visit Jumeirah Mosque. One of the most beautiful landmarks in Dubai, the Jumeirah Mosque is large enough to hold up to 1,200 worshippers. Its grand size and fine details lend to some very impressive architectural photography. After sunset, we will dine at BoxPark, a unique mall where shops and 20 cafés and restaurants are located in shipping container structures. At night these containers are colorfully lit, which makes for some wonderful night photography. The cool, hip, urban crowd can also lend to street photography opportunities. (B, D)
Day 3 | Desert Falconry Safari - Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary
We begin our day very early with a sunrise pickup by Jeep, and head to the desert. Upon arrival, we will meet with our Desert Falconry Expert who will be waiting for us with falcons, a hawk, and owls. We will be given in-depth introductions on the ancient sport of falconry and techniques used in training and hunting with the falcons, as well as the opportunity to create great photographs. We’ll return to Dubai by the late morning.
After lunch, we will visit the Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary, home to more than 500 flamingos and 20,000 birds of 67 species. Located in Dubai Creek, this saltwater wetland is dotted with lush mangroves and surrounded by salt and mudflats. This unique wetland of unspoiled nature is a dream come true for the photographers. Situated close to the city center, Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary is an ideal place to spot some rare species of birds amidst the natural beauty. A visit to Ras Al Khor offers a rare glimpse of the unseen Dubai which is vastly different from the glamorous side of Dubai.
In the afternoon we will relax back at our hotel, and in the evening we will enjoy a well-deserved Farewell Dinner. (B, D)
Day 4 | Departure
On our last morning, we will enjoy a lovely breakfast and review our photos. After we trade contact information we sadly bid you farewell. We encourage you to extend your stay in the Middle East, or elsewhere and make good use of everything you will learn on our photo adventure. (B)
(B) Breakfast, (L) Lunch, (D) Dinner, (E) Excursion
May all who come as guests... leave as friends®
