PATAGONIA
El Calafate, Perito Moreno, Torres del Paine, El Chaltén
Explore the Wintery Watery Wilderness of Patagonia.
Join us on our 12-day Patagonia Photo Tour and Landscape Adventure and take in this breathtaking and untamed region spanning across Argentina and Chile. Patagonia is a windswept frontier bequeathed with the earth’s few remaining glaciers. Since Darwin visited this land in the mid-1800s, Patagonia has become a dream destination for wanderers and settlers. It has an otherworldly feel, from the colors embedded in the landscape… teal, mauve, mahogany, periwinkle, azure, and lavender – to the effect it has on the imagination. Prepare to be amazed at grand glaciers, rugged mountain peaks, and dramatic skies. At times, you will want to put down your camera and just take the drama in.
Our journey commences in Argentina, at the Perito Moreno Glacier in Los Glaciares National Park, one of the very few glaciers in the world that still advances. As well as capturing the grandeur of this powerful ice giant, we will zoom in on the textures of its cerulean walls and witness the spectacle of icebergs breaking off and crashing into the freezing waters below. The next three days will be spent in the mountain town of El Chaltén, photographing the peaks of Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre that line the horizon. The highlight will be our sunrise shoot, where the rugged spires transform into a captivating fiery orange.
While Patagonia lends itself beautifully to landscape photography, we will also have the opportunity to incorporate the region’s wildlife into our shots. Look out for Andean condors soaring high above the mountain peaks, as well as guanacos (a lama-like species) and ñandúes (a South American ostrich), whose long necks and elegant sculptural stances are perfect photogenic subjects.
Like the true adventurers we are, we will traverse the Pagatonian Steppe, the world’s eighth-largest desert, and make our way across the Argentinan-Chilean border by car to the Torres del Paine National Park. We begin our three days in Chile at Laguna Amarga, where there is nothing “amarga” (bitter) about this pristine blue lake – its calmest of calm waters and the juxtaposing jagged peaks in the distance make for some dramatic wide-angle shots. Similarly, the crystal clear waters of Lake Pehoe create a mirror-like reflection of the surrounding snowy peaks like a dreamy landscape painting, best captured in the early mornings and evenings. In contrast, we will also experience the cascading waterfalls of Cascada Paine and Salto Grande that thunder through rugged forestal terrain, playing with the waters’ movements through long exposure and high-speed shots.
This 12-day photography tour is more than just a quest to capture exceptional images; it’s an invitation to elevate your craft and see the world through a new lens. Our expert photographer guides will not only lead you to the most photogenic locations under the best light but also help you master the art of visual storytelling. Along the way, you’ll refine your camera techniques and discover how to navigate the challenges of photographing in a foreign land. You’ll also learn to anticipate a scene before capturing the decisive moment, elevating ordinary photos into extraordinary works of art.
Join us for spirited discussions, enriching camaraderie, and moments of unforgettable inspiration. From turquoise-colored crystalline lakes to rugged mountains and fresh rushing waterfalls, Patagonia is an unrivaled photographers’ playground to uncover the wild and the divine.

UPCOMING WORKSHOPS
PATAGONIA 12 DAYS
Note: We can book your air travel from Buenos Aries to El Calafate and back. If you choose to arrive early in Buenos Aires, we would be happy to book your hotel and arrange our photographer in Buenos Aires for photo day tours.
Day 1 | El Calafate
Our adventure beings in the afternoon at our hotel in El Calafate. In the early evening we will have a meet and greet with our group leader and guide, and then celebrate with our “Welcome Dinner” at one of the many great restaurants in El Calafate. (D)
Day 2 | Perito Moreno Glacier
We are up early to photograph Perito Moreno Glacier in Los Glaciares National Park, declared a “World Heritage” site by UNESCO in 1981. This spectacular glacier is one of the very few glaciers in the world that still advances. Its massive front wall will most likely make you put down your camera in awe. There are several different views we will explore, ranging from details of the ice to the grand view spanning the 3.5 miles of its front wall. It’s frequent calving, one of the trademarks of the glacier is a little “extra” that the glacier offers its visitors frequently and one of the best features of the day. (B)
Day 3 | El Chaltén
Today, we depart towards El Chaltén, through Patagonian steppe. The 3 hours drive through the steppe to this charming little mountain town of just a couple thousand people is very interesting. We will likely see Guanacos and Nandues (a South American ostrich) on the way. As we approach El Chaltén, we will view (weather permitting) the magnificent Fitz Roy massif in all its rugged glory. We will make stops on the way to start getting used to our main subject for the next 3 days. (B)
Day 4 | El Chaltén - Fitz Roy
We will spend 3 full days in the area, shooting the Fitz Roy, the Cerro Torre, and the rest of the peaks in this massif. The best light to shoot is the early morning, where the light turns the granite red-orange. We will explore different locations for sunrise. After breakfast back in town, we can walk different easy trails that start right at the edge of the town, exploring different views and angles of the mountains, but also enjoy and photograph unpolluted forests and streams. The town itself is very picturesque and definitely worth the time to explore. Despite its size, the town is full of great little restaurants, so good food is guaranteed! (B)
Day 5 | El Chaltén - Fitz Roy
Since we will be spending 3 days in El Chaltén and Fitz Roy, the exact order which we explore will be determined based on weather and other factors. (B)
Day 6 | El Chaltén - Fitz Roy
Since we will be spending 3 days in El Chaltén and Fitz Roy, the exact order which we explore will be determined based on weather and other factors. (B)
Day 7 | Torres del Paine - Chile
On this day we depart early for Torres del Paine National Park in Chile. We will drive through Patagonian steppe (lunch en route) crossing the border to Chile. This is a long driving day with different views as we move south towards Chile’s incredibly pretty Torres del Paine. (B)
Day 8 | Laguna Amarga - Cascada Paine
We will spend the next 3 full days visiting the park, including Laguna Amarga, Cascada Paine, Salto Grande, Grey Glacier, Lake Pehoe, and Lake Nordenskjöld. Torres del Paine is arguably the prettiest park in Patagonia. Our hotel’s amazing location in the middle of Lake Pehoe’s turquoise waters, with the rugged Paine’s Horns unobstructed views makes it the perfect place to set base during our stay. We will shoot from excellent locations, with the best light.
There are so many places to shoot and the park is so incredibly beautiful that our three days will certainly feel not enough. From walks through forests, to icebergs, to turquoise colored waters, to rugged mountains, to guanacos, condors, and flamingos, Torres del Paine has it all! (B)
Day 9 | Grey Glacier - Salto Grande
Since we will be spending 3 days in Torres del Paine National Park, the exact order which we explore will be determined based on weather and other factors. (B)
Day 10 | Lake Pehoe - Lake Nordenskjöld
Since we will be spending 3 days in Torres del Paine National Park, the exact order which we explore will be determined based on weather and other factors. (B)
Day 11 | Torres del Paine - El Calafate
After sunrise and breakfast, we drive back to El Calafate for our last night in Patagonia. In the evening we will celebrate with our wonderful “Farewell Dinner”, with great fun and laughter as we discuss all the highlights of the trip. (B) (D)
Day 12 | El Calafate
Your morning is free, checkout and transfers to the airport for your return flight home or elsewhere in South America. (B)
(B) Breakfast, (L) Lunch, (D) Dinner, (E) Excursion
May all who come as guests... leave as friends®
