Join us in INDIA as we say “HOLI HAI”

“Holi Hai!” — these joyful words will echo through the streets during our photography tour of one of the most vibrant festivals in the world. Holi, celebrated across India as a major holiday, is also one of PWA’s most popular and sought-after photo tours. Join us for our Holi Festival of Colors Photo Tour (February 22 to March 1, 2026) in the heart of Vrindavan, where tradition, color, and culture come alive.

Holi is a week-long celebration filled with diverse cultural experiences. From the playful Laddu Holi, where instead of colors, people joyfully hurl laddus (sweet desserts) at each other in a whirlwind of laughter, to the vibrant Lathmar Holi, where women playfully beat men with sticks in a spirited re-enactment of legendary tales, this tour offers an emotional and visual feast for your camera and your soul.

In India, Holi is celebrated and cherished by every community. Even widows, historically marginalized in orthodox Indian culture, are included in the festivities. Traditionally, widows were forced to wear white, shave their heads, and live in isolation, a practice that has faded in many regions but persists in some rural areas. Widow Holi is a decisive moment when these women are allowed to touch, play, and adorn themselves with colors. Witnessing and capturing these moments is not just about photography; it’s about documenting human emotions, societal differences, and unique cultural practices. This is what a PWA tour is all about: discovering unseen stories and capturing them through your lens.

If you’ve experienced Holi before, get ready for something new!

Every year, we refine our itinerary to include unique events and celebrations. You’ll also experience Lathmar Holi — a playful and mischievous tradition. Legend has it that Lord Krishna and his friends were playfully chased with sticks by Radha and her mates after teasing them. This tradition lives on in Nandgaon, where we’ll witness men being playfully chased by women wielding sticks and splashing colors.

In addition, we’ll spend a few days photographing the stunning Taj Mahal in Agra and exploring the vibrant streets of Delhi. This gives you the opportunity to experience more of India’s rich culture and history while enjoying Holi festivities. While Vrindavan offers grand Holi celebrations, other cities express the festival in their own unique ways.

Like every other festival, it takes you deeper into the country’s culture and heritage, where everything truly comes alive. Our small-group format ensures personalized attention, giving everyone a richer and more immersive experience. What better way to experience the heart of India?
