The World’s Most Creative and Inspiring Photo Adventure Vacations

ROB SANTERAMO

PROFESSIONAL PHOTOGRAPHER

UNITED STATES

Rob joined us in Yellowstone Park last year where he really enjoyed our program. Rob however, is no stranger to the camera and the lens, having won numerous Emmys for Daytime TV in the television industry. Rob’s passion for photography includes fine art, infrared, landscape, wildlife and people. It’s not every day that we see a photo enthusiast bring both Nikon and Canon DSLR’s on one of our photo adventures. He even has a Nikon camera converted for only IR (infrared) photography. What strikes you the most when you shoot with Rob is his vast knowledge about photography, and even more impressive, is his deep passion for his hobby. Thank you Rob for sharing your experiences in Yellowstone. We are really looking forward to shooting with you again in Cuba this spring.

On our 2nd day in Yellowstone, our guide Daryl from Photo Workshop Adventures had heard that there was grizzly bear activity nearby so we quickly headed to the area and were lucky enough to find this adult across a stream alongside the road. As we attempted to set tripods the bear jumped into the stream heading in our direction. I was determined to fire off a few shots before making a fast retreat. I am not a wildlife photographer but thanks to a very experienced guide and some luck I was able to get some great wildlife photos. Yellowstone is an amazing place that everyone needs to experience. (see more photos below)

ABOUT ROB

Rob has had an amazing career in the television industry for over 35 years. His accomplishments include a number of Emmys that he has won in Daytime television but his passion has always been his photography from a very young age. He loves to travel and is always driven to capture that next rare, fleeting moment. Although some of his photos have won awards, he photographs to satisfy his passion and need to record the experiences and memories of his life.

A CONVERSATION WITH ROB

Why did you choose Photo Workshop Adventures?

I wanted to combine travel with photography and be with people who shared the same interest. I researched many companies and found PWA to be the best organized with the destinations and itineraries that appealed to me. I was not disappointed in my choice. The knowledge and expertise of our guide {Daryl Hunter} took care of the planning so we could concentrate on photography. I have been photographing for over 40 years and the workshop showed me that no matter what your level of experience, there is always something new to learn.

What did you enjoy most about the adventure?

I like the fact that I was with people sharing the same love of photography as me. Also, I have always wanted to see our national parks but was concerned that I would waste time not knowing where to go. PWA’s knowledgeable guide saved so much time in taking us to locations that I probably wouldn’t have found on my own.

What do you enjoy most about photography?

I love to travel and have been to interesting and beautiful places throughout the world. I enjoy recording those memories that I am lucky enough to experience.

What are your goals and ambitions as a photographer?

To always be excited with capturing that next great image, whether I find it at some amazing destination or my own back yard. I hope that my photos give the viewer the same pleasure that I felt in taking them.

Note: Other equipment used: Nikon D800, Nikkor 24-70mm F2.8 ED lens, Nikkor 16-35mm F1.4G ED lens, Nikon IR converted D80
