Pristine beaches, freshwater rivers and lakes, subtropical forests and sunshine.

Australia Photo Adventure Vacations – Inspire, Create and Learn.

Welcome to the naturally refreshing Sunshine Coast, where you will experience a laid-back lifestyle centered around pristine beaches, freshwater rivers and lakes, subtropical forests and warm sunshine. From the naturally stylish Noosa, to the fun of Coolum, Maroochydore, Mooloolaba and Caloundra, to the cool and creative hinterland villages of Maleny, Montville and Mapleton. Any destination you choose along the Sunshine Coast will fill your body, mind and soul with an enduring sense of warmth.

Queensland's Sunshine Coast is a collection of beachside and hinterland towns to the north of Brisbane. Unlike the Gold Coast, the Sunshine Coast is not just one destination, but a collection of them, and we will visit all that is perfect for amazing photography, especially long exposure photography.

This adventure is designed not only to guide you to the most photogenic locations carefully planned for the best light, but to aid you in mentally visualizing a scene before capturing the decisive moment. Our aim is to raise your awareness and spark your creativity so that you not only go home with images to be proud of, but use your new found skills to improve and expand your photographic technique in general. Apart from the technical aspect of learning your camera settings and capabilities, you will learn how to turn an ordinary image into an extraordinary image by using your own creativity.

In addition, you will become knowledgeable on how to survey the landscape, utilize and approach your environment, photograph people indigenous to the region and the cultural considerations and challenges of photographing in a foreign country. Our week together will include individual and group discussions, inspiring ideas and great fun. We cannot think of a more inspiring location to express your creativity than Australia’s breathtaking Sunshine Coast.

AUSTRALIA 6 DAYS

Sunday (1)  Buderim Forest - Serenity Falls

We meet our guests at our beautiful beach hotel on the Sunshine Coast on Sunday morning, where we will discuss PWA’s “10 Guiding Principles of Photography” as well as our “THE ART OF SEEING” photographic technique. After lunch we set out to photograph the stunning Buderim Forest. Our main focus will be long exposure photography of Serenity Falls as well as several smaller falls. In the evening we will celebrate with our “Welcome Dinner” at one of our favorite local restaurants. (D)

Monday (2)  Noosa National Park (Noosa Heads Coastal Track)

We set out early Monday morning for Noosa National Park and the stunning bays of Granite Bay, Tea Tree Bay, Devils Kitchen, Lion Rock, Sunshine Beach, Alexandria Bay, and lots of special coves in between. In Noosa will also see coastal rock formations such as the Boiling Pot and Hells Gates. Beaches include Tea Tree Bay, a pandanus-lined sandy beach, the more rocky Granite Bay, historic Winch Cove and the sweeping Alexandria Bay. Koalas frequent the gum trees along this walk and honeyeaters are often seen in the flowering shrubs next to the track. Out to sea, frolicking dolphins and migrating humpback whales are sometimes seen by the keen observer. And to add some civilization to this beautiful mix, the esplanade of Noosa is beautiful and is lined with fairy lights and boutique cafes, restaurants and retail shops. We will spend the entire day in Noosa photographing, dining and finally capturing a breathtaking sunset if we are lucky. (B)

Tuesday (3)  Coolum - Yaroomba Beach - Maroochydore

After breakfast we depart for Coolum where there are lots of coves to explore, and they are so easy to remember - 1st Bay, 2nd Bay and 3rd Bay, as they are known. You will love the fantastic overlooks from Point Arkwright lookout where we’ll be able to see Yaroomba Beach right up to Maroochydore. When we return in the evening we will review some of our favorite photos to date. (B)

Wednesday (4)  Caloundra Coastal Walk - SS Dicky Wreck

Wednesday will be another amazing day on the Sunshine Coast as we explore and photograph many of the beaches in this area. These include Moffat Beach, Golden Beach, Shelly Beach, Dicky Beach, Kings Beach (most popular). Hopefully we will even be able to get some shots of the SS Dicky Wreck. Caloudra has many cafes, restaurants and retail shops which makes it a great place to stop for lunch and dinner. (B)

Thursday (5)  Mount Ngungun - Glass House Mountains

On Thursday morning we do a quick review of your latest photos before we head for Mount Ngungun, the sixth tallest of the Glass House Mountains at 253 meters. It has a well maintained walking trail to the summit that affords good views that overlooks the beautiful Glass House Mountains. The trail from car park is not as steep as the higher mountains and is open to beginners. The Glass House Mountains are rhyolitic volcanic plugs left by volcanic activity millions of years ago. After a great day of photography, we return to our hotel to prepare for our “Farewell Dinner” and to celebrate the end of a wonderful week together. (B) (D)

Friday (6)  Noosa National Park

On our final day we depart early for some final shots of Noosa National Park before returning to our hotel. There we will have our final group discussion, review our past week’s photos, trade contact information and say goodbye. We urge you to extend your stay on the Sunshine Coast or elsewhere in Australia and practice all the photography skills you learned on this Photo Workshop Adventure. (B)

May all who come as guests... leave as friends®
