Lorenz Berna Photo Workshop Adventures 01 800

Lorenz Berna is one of PWA’s newest photographer leaders. Lorenz is an award-winning Travel and Documentary Photographer based in Florence, Italy, when he is not traveling. He discovered a real passion for photography while backpacking Mexico in 2006 and has never stopped traveling to create images.

He has a diploma in the darkroom and alternative analog development processes from The Darkroom Photography School in Florence. In the first five years of his journey as a photographer, he dedicated exclusively to black and white, developing the rolls and printing alone in his darkroom before approaching digital. Over the course of 15 years, Lorenz has worked in various photographic fields such as stock, wedding, reportage, fashion, architecture, and real estate, gaining very different photographic knowledge.

He speaks four languages and is a passionate student of Asian countries and Buddhist cultures, where he lived for some years. Always careful not to fall into cliches, his approach to travel photography is to find the right weight and harmony between the subjects and the characteristics of the ever-changing environment, such as colors and shapes.

Lorenzo’s images and portfolios have been awarded in several international contests and published in magazines. In 2022, Steve McCurry chose one of his images for the – Life Framer edition: “World Travelers.” He is also the Winner of the Travel Photographer of the Year in the “Creative Travel” category.

Lorenz will be leading photo tours in Bhutan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Japan. Future trips will include India and China. Click here to view Lorenz Berna’s team page and portfolio.
