PHOTOGRAPHY ADVENTURE VACATIONS

Guest Showcase

The World’s Most Creative and Inspiring Photo Adventure Vacations

DARRELL MILLER

PHOTOGRAPHY ENTHUSIAST

UNITED STATES

We’ve had the pleasure of having Darrell join us on three photo adventures. The first two in Cuba (our Classic Cuba and Eastern Cuba Photo Adventures) and just recently in Morocco with his lovely wife (and budding new photographer). Darrell is perhaps one of the most polite and respectable people you will ever meet. His kind heart and gentle soul is a reminder to all of us of how we should aspire to be. Add in his wit and charm, compassion and smile, and you have one fine gentleman who easily gets people to laugh and just be themselves. But now meet the real Darrell. A digital forensic examiner whose expertise is decoding and unlocking mobile phones and computers on site during police and FBI raids at all hours of the night. Yep, you heard that right.  Darrell’s job is all business, serious business. It is perhaps this combination of charm and persistence that makes Darrell so successful at his hobby of street photography. As you look through his gallery of images, you’ll see what we’re talking about. Not only are they technically correct and well composed, but they have a warmth that shows Darrell’s connection with his subjects. We hope they inspire you photographically and creatively. Thank you Darrell for accepting our Guest Showcase invitation. We are truly honored.

This image was taken in Morocco of May 2017. We were walking through the streets. This little girl was waiting for a friend on her front steps, she reached out her hand to pet the donkey that was coming by. The guy on the donkey was clearly tired, it was over 100 degrees. He didn’t stop but at least slowed the donkey. It was just a cute moment.  (see more photos below)

ABOUT DARRELL

During the week I am a digital forensic examiner for the Louisiana Department of Justice. I assist federal, state, and local law enforcement with criminal cases involving technology. During my free time I love street photography and capturing candid photos of people. I grew up drawing and painting, the last few years that has evolved into a love for photography.

A CONVERSATION WITH DARRELL

Why did you choose Photo Workshop Adventures?

I did a lot of research and googling. PWA seemed to have trips in the areas I was interested in and a small group size.  The trips seemed very organized and well thought out. They were trips for photographers designed and arranged by photographers.

What did you enjoy most about the adventure?

The trip was incredibly well organized but not overbearing. It was the right balance of freedom and direction. Michael did an amazing job of leading us to beautiful and interesting locations, then letting us explore and capture the locations in our own style. He was there if we had questions or needed help, but gracefully stayed out of the way unless called upon. It was a very nice balance.

What do you enjoy most about photography?

I love capturing candid real moments of emotion in people. Documenting people being themselves living their lives.

What are your goals and ambitions as a photographer?

Aside from learning the technical aspects of photography better, I wan’t to continue to grow as a photographer by learning to tell more of a story through my photography.
