WASHINGTON DC | CHERRY BLOSSOMS

Gardens, Monuments, Memorials, Capitol Building and more

Enjoy the splendor of early spring with D.C.’s world-famous cherry blossoms.

Once March rolls around, most of us are tired of winter weather. Months of cold air, snow, ice, and short days wear us down. We long for the rebirth of spring and the return of life and warmth.

Enter the cherry blossoms. These trees, a gift from Japan to Washington, D.C. in the early 20th century, are one of the first to blossom to announce the arrival of spring. Blooming in troves of white and pink, these “Yoshino” cherry blossom trees present a surreal and drop-dead gorgeous scenery all around our Nation’s Capital.

Witnessing these majestic, blooming trees amongst iconic landmarks such as the Washington Monument, Jefferson Memorial, Martin Luther King Memorial, and White House is something everyone, young and old, should experience at least once in their lives. There may not be a more beautiful time or place on earth to enjoy both nature and historically important architecture.

This adventure is designed not only to guide you to the most photogenic locations carefully planned for the best light but also to aid you in mentally visualizing a scene before capturing the decisive moment. Our aim is to raise your awareness and spark your creativity so that you not only go home with images to be proud of but use your new found skills to improve and expand your photographic technique in general. Apart from the technical aspect of learning your camera settings and capabilities, you will learn how to turn an ordinary image into an extraordinary image by using your own creativity.

In addition, you will become knowledgeable on how to survey the landscape, utilize and approach your environment, and photograph people and events within the city. Our time together will include individual and group discussions, inspiring ideas, and great fun. We cannot think of a better location to express your creativity than during the spring bloom of cherry blossoms in the nation’s capital, Washington, D.C.
