CELINE NIETO

NAPLES & AMALFI | MADRID | MOROCCO

AMATEUR PHOTOGRAPHER

Born in Canada | Lives and works in Madrid, Spain

Photo Adventures Attended:  Naples and Amalfi, Madrid & Morocco

Celine Nieto first joined us in September 2012 in Naples & Amalfi, Italy and then again in April 2013 in Madrid, Spain (where she lives). Being the lovely person that she is, Celine quickly became one of the groups favorite guests, always lending a helping hand and sharing her thoughts. Her creative approach to photography, unique style and attention to detail, made it every easy to be seduced by her talents. A Flight Attendant in real life, Celine loves to travel, plan trips and is wonderful with logistics. Since our workshops together, Celine has been helping PWA plan future workshops such as the upcoming Morocco Adventure, a country she is very familiar with.

The picture above was made in historic Old Naples during Photo Workshop Adventures Naples & the Amalfi workshop. A stolen snapshot of an old lady sitting in a chair on the corner of two narrow gritty and sunless streets... “What can I say: she caught my eye, as if she had been waiting there to be photographed...  Naples was an incredible place to photograph. An opportunity to shoot something interesting jumped at you every few steps.”  (see more photos below)

ABOUT CELINE

Born in Canada to German and Spanish parents, my nomadic childhood has led to a certain feeling of rootlessness: like being from nowhere in particular and everywhere at the same time. This background obviously has left me with a continued need to travel; that I ended working for an airline probably comes as no surprise. And although I suffer from multiple passions, I suspect I’ll be living hooked  to a camera and a suitcase for my remaining days... The one thing I am certain of is that once the Wanderlust gets you, it’s incurable.

A CONVERSATION WITH CELINE

Why did you choose Photo Workshop Adventures?

I choose Photo Workshop Adventures (PWA) out of chance, like most of the significant things in life. This was my first workshop ever, and it was a wise choice: it gave me the opportunity to meet some extraordinary people and share our common passions.

What do you enjoy most about photography?

The feeling of invisibility that the lens offers, the game of seeing without being seen. Focusing on  objects or subjects, extracting them from their context; after all, you can find beauty anywhere if you’re willing to see. I´m not interested in the big picture: the devil is in the details...

What are you goals and ambitions as a photographer?

The need to feed my creative side and find my own voice has lately grown in me. I believe there’s always room for improvement and I truly enjoy learning from others. In short, to grow and evolve as a photographer.
